Our Board

Kathy Calabretta, MA, is a triathlete and is currently ranked #1 in the nation in her age group by USA Triathlon. She is a member of Team USA, a silver medalist at the 2023 World ITU Championship in Hamburg, Germany, and a gold medalist at the USAT National Championships. Kathy is also a certified USAT coach. She is competing for Team USA in Malaga, Spain, in 2024, and is training to win gold for a second time. An active user of the Rec Center, she has been a Ludington resident since 2011.

Dan Connolly, PhD, is a retired professor of Art History, having taught 22 years in colleges and universities throughout the Midwest, including West Shore Community College. He has been a resident of Mason Co. since 1994, and an avid swimmer since 2000.  

John Freeby, MD FACR, is a physician specializing in Radiology and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at MSU and WMU. Former water safety instructor, lifeguard, and Masters swimmer, John currently competes in the occasional triathlon to keep himself honest. John lives in Free Soil and has been a member of the WSCC Recreation Center for 8 years.

Tom Kalina, BS, AAP/ACH, served as a specialist in electronic payment platforms for the Federal Reserve Bank and as a consultant. Before retirement, he managed a family summer resort business on Hamlin Lake. Tom has been an active member of the WSCC Recreation Center for 12 years.

Grant Kriz, BS, is a chemical engineer working for Occidental Chemical and living in Mason County for the last 19 years. Grant has been a member of the WSCC Recreation Center for 18 of those years and a volunteer at the Ludington and Manistee homeless shelters for 14 years.

Cindy Muller, AIA, NCARB, is the past president and current treasurer of Muller & Muller, Ltd, a resident of Ludington since 2011, and an avid user of the WSCC pool since 2022.

Cathy Schindler, ESQ, is a retired Assistant District Attorney for the State of Alaska. Prior to practicing law, she worked in the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault community, beginning her non-profit career at the local shelter that is now COVE. Cathy grew up on the WSCC Campus: her mother was an original faculty member serving from 1969-1992 as a Professor of Speech and English.
